Dave's notes 9-13

The Freestyle Festival is approaching.  The deadline to commit to the meet is Tonight at midnight!!!! The meet is Saturday Sept 24th at the Poway community center.

We want all CAST swimmers to participate!!!! The events are only freestyle and the coaches will enter swimmers in distances appropriate for their level of swimming.

The events offered

25 free for 8-u

50 and 100 free for all ages

200 and 500  for all ages but 12 &U's need to meet the BB standard to enter either and the 13&O's need to meet the BB std for the 500 to enter

To have us enter you - follow these instructions before midnight tonight

- On the castswim.com website, click on  the CAST events tab

- scroll down to the freestyle festival

- select edit committment

-select your swimmers name near the bottom of that screen

-then under "declaration" select yes. If you have any notes for the coach you can enter them at this time.

You will be billed for the meet in your next bill. The meet is a $10 surcharge and $6.50 per event

USA swimming registrations- annual membership

Many things are changing at USA swimming. the biggest major change is that handling USA swimming registrations will be completely up to the individual swimmer/family. 

They launched the new system on 9-1-22 and still have many bugs to work through.....I was asked by the LSC registration chairman today to hold off on getting my team registered a few more days....She is working with USA swimming on many issues and has a meeting today to address some of those issues. For example people with yahoo and aol emails are not getting the required communication in the process.

I told her that we had new swimmers that needed to register prior to entireing the freestyle festival, and she said that the major bugs should be fixed in a day or two, and to get their USA swimming registrations  by next Monday, and they would be good for the meet.

If you've been swimming in meets all year and you are registered with USA swimming until the end of the year, you do not need to be in a hurry to register with USA swim (you've got almost 4 months left on your registration). However if you are new or have had a flex membership and already done your two allotted meets that come with being a flex member, you will need to register or upgrade prior to next Monday if you intend to be in the Frestyle meet listed above.

Because I was asked to wait on having my team register, I'm not sending all of the documents and instructions yet.....I assume they'll give me the thumbs up in a day or two. When they do, I will send it out, and everyone can register.
