A few notes from Coach Dave

High School swimming.

For you high school swim fans, the season is coming to a close. Next week the high schools all have their league championship meets. Most have prelims on Wednesday or Thursday with finals on Friday or Saturday. The following is the "CIF" championship week. With prelims also on Wed and Thur and Finals on Saturday the 6th. We have plenty of CAST swimmers on many different teams around the county who will be competing in these championship meets. It's their time to shine among their high school peers. Good luck - and swim fast!!!

Saturday AM practice for SR and SR-D

For those SR and SR-D swimmers not in the meet this Saturday morning, there is a practice available at the Kroc center from 7:45 - 9:30 am.

A/BB meet this weekend.

The meet is at Poway Community Center and is the first Long course meet of the season. It begins Friday night with distance events. Swimmers please wear your CAST apparel and bring food, liquids, sunscreen, some interactive games to play, as it is a longer meet. Please pay attention to the parking so you don't end up getting towed.

Also please note that the person who set the software for the meet entries for this meet, set it up to convert short course times to Long course times for entries. So many swimmers appear on the psyche sheet with long course times they have not achieved in a long course pool. Please be aware that these time conversions often do not accurately reflect what a swimmer "should" go based on their short course times.

Also, this is our first long course meet of the season, and it may take a little getting used to.  I would strongly suggest that swimmers bring a list with them of their actual long course best times from last season, rather than compare their swims to a computer generated time based on their short course times.

Swimmers should arrive at 3:40 on Friday, 7:30 on Saturday, and 7:00 on Sunday.

Thanks,
