Long Course Age Group Championships notes from Coach Dave

First of all a huge shout out to Coach DawnElla who has spent the last 27 months taking on a group of youngers to develop them into a small but mighty force to be reckoned with. Her swimmers accounted for about 80% of our points. . . And to Coach Ben who had 6 10&U’s who competed.

CAST finished 6th out of 22 teams attending the 2023 Summer Championship Meet. We had 26 swimmers compete in individual and relay events scoring 1100 points - just 29 points behind Heartland, a team roughly twice our size. We led them throughout the meet and they only surpassed us in the final relay events that we were void in. (soooo close). BTW the other teams ahead of us were SBA (roughly 300 swimmers), and PS, NCA and RSD all between 400 and 600 swimmers.

I’m a stats and numbers kind of guy, so I listed the records, event champions and finishes below.

The following team records were broken:

  • 13-14 G 200 Free Relay 1:56.64
  • 13-14 G 200 Medley Relay 2:10.31
  • 13-14 G & Overall 200M BR  2:45.09 Kasey Gray
