dave's notes
Information and notes for September:
Here is a September practice Calendar. There are a couple of things to immediately take note of:
1) There will be no practices this coming Monday and Tuesday. The Kroc center is closed on Monday (labor day), and will be closed at 4:30 on Tuesday for a Kroc staff event.
2) Due to the fact that there are no pracices on Monday and Tuesday, All groups will be swimming on Wed- Thur-Fri and AG,SDand SR will have Saturday morning practices at Helix HS.
3) Our normal practice routine will be in effect after that.....with a change for AG. AG will now normally practice M-Th pm and Saturday am.
4) There will be some calendar updates once I figure out the logistics of Saturdays that are listed as TBA as well as when we will be holding our annual Swim-O-Rama fundraiser. I hope to have all of this information in place and distributed to you no later than Spet 6th.
5) The Freestyle Festival should be for all swimmers with the possible exception of those who have just joined the novice group in the last week (or will be joiining in the coming weeks). If you are brand new to the team, check with coach Raven to see if you should be considering swimming in this meet.
6) Set the date aside: October 1st we will have a beach party awards potluck similar to last year. More information will come out in the coming weeks.
7) I will have a note out very soon regarding USA swimming memberships. September 1st is the first day people can register for 2024, and it includes the last 4 months of 2023. Just keep an eye open, because the procedure has a new cast-specific link and some minor changes. If you just joined the team and want to get registered, please hold off until I get the new instructions to you this weekend.
8) Open water event. Coach DawnElla is trying to get information on an open water event on the 16th. We will either get you that information as it becomwes available, but in the scenario that the event is not going to take place, we will promote swimmers to attend a Sept 30th open water swim instead. Hopefully we'll know before we return to the pool next Wed. which we are asking swimmers to attend. Open water swimming is primarily for swimmers in SR and SD groups, however it may fit a few in the AG, we'll have to wait for the meet information before we can know for sure.
9) Fall/winter meet schedule. Those schedules are late because the LSC (local swim committee) is behind in solidifying things. I will be posting the Fall schedule this weekend, but the meets from Jan - March have some things that are still TBD. I will post the ones that are most likely set in stone this weekend (like SR Classic, Sectionals, and JO's). and the rest will be posted once they are solidified at the end of the month by the LSC.
I think that's it for now.
See you at the pool.
Coach Dave
