Notes for week of 10/16

Parent meeting

There will be a general parent meeting on Tuesday night 10-24 at 8 pm. The meeting is for general information and preparation for hosting the upcoming meet. It will be about 20-30 minutes. Please put the time and date on your calendar. I will be sending out a zoom invitation a few days prior to the meeting. (I don't post zoom mtg links on the news page).

Team outfitting

Just a reminder that you can get all sorts of team apparel and equipment at Swim West our localsupplier for team goods. In order to purchase CAST-specific outfitting please click on our logo on this page.  The password to enter is "swimcast". Team caps with names have just been added to the team order site.  Since caps with names need to be done in a bulk order they are only made available a few times per year. The link to order caps with names will only be up through Oct 30. Those caps should be in 2-3 weeks later.

Previous team suits: I ran across a site that has a number of selected sizes of our previous team suit at great prices. Although we would like swimmers to have the current team suit  the Speedo Purpose  (Royal/Bright green) as their main competition suit for “regular” meets, these older suits would make a great practice suit and a good backup suit for competitions.

$32.76 Female Size 28 and 30 crossback Link

$32.76 Female size 26 flyback Link

$50.40 Female Size 28 and 30 Flyback Link

$26.40 Male endurance brief 30 Link

Prizes for SwimORama will be awarded at practice this Thursday night at 6pm.

CAST Swim meet

We are hosting a swim meet on Oct. 28-29. This meet is at Granite Hills HS. This is an NTS meet. That means "no time standard", which means that any swimmer at any level can compete at this meet. We would like every swimmer from every group to swim in this meet. It's a great opportunity to get all of the kids and families together at one. Please commit to swimming in this meet by clicking here , logging into the cast site - select edit commitment. If there are any restraints (like must leave by noon on Sunday) or preferred events, please put them in the commitment notes section. The deadline is midnight Tuesday.

CAST workers for out upcoming meet

The job asignments have been posted and an invitation to sign up will be sent out after I send this news out. We need everyone to help out!

There are roughly 230 hours of jobs to run this meet well. We take pride in running great meets, but it cannot be done without your help.  This is why there are required work hours of 4 hours per family per team hosted meet....we really need everyone to pitch in. Even if your swimmer isn't competing. There are a few jobs for Friday night if your weekend is too busy.  Jobs for Friday night (transportation and set up) and Sunday afternoon (transportation and clean up) are worth double hours.

Also, since there is a big change in the timing system operations at San Diego meets, we now have to provide a timing system operator. I am asking for anyone who likes the type of job sitting in the best seat in the house working a computer to make sure kids get their times. I would really like to train 2 or 3 people to be able to do this. It does take a little tech knowhow if/when troubleshooting becomes necessary. Please ask me if you want to know more.

Thank you all! See you at the pool!
